Use Staging Pull to restore a YugabyteDB backup into a YBA-managed staging universe and create or synchronize a dSource. With v2026.0.0.5 Preview, the connector can restore a full backup and then apply a compatible sequence of incremental backups. When you provide a restore timestamp, the connector stops at the latest incremental backup whose restore point is less than or equal to that timestamp.

Perform the following steps to create a dSource with a Delphix-initiated backup that uses a single database backup to stay in sync with the source.

Prerequisites

Ensure that you meet the following requirements before you begin creating a dSource.

Meet the YugabyteDB staging environment requirements and establish passwordless SSH between the YBA host and YugabyteDB hosts.

  • Configure the backup storage provider in YBA.

  • Make the selected full backup and its incremental backup chain available from the configured storage location.

  • Verify that the requested restore timestamp is later than the full backup and falls within the time range covered by the available incremental backups.

  • For S3 with IAM instance-profile authentication, attach suitable roles to the staging/Delphix host and to the YBA or database-node instances that perform the restore.

  • Keep the AWS Region value available. IAM mode does not remove the region requirement.

For more information, refer to the Requirements and prerequisites topic.

Point-in-time restore is supported for Staging Pull workflows that provide a valid full backup and a compatible incremental backup chain. Restore precision is limited to the timestamps represented by available incremental backups. If the requested timestamp falls between two incremental, the connector restores through the earlier incremental.

Procedure

Perform the following steps to create a source config on the staging environment.

  1. In the Delphix Management application, navigate to Manage > Environments, select the staging environment, and start the Add dSource workflow for the YugabyteDB source configuration.

  2. On the Databases tab, choose a repository for your dSource and click the icon.

  3. Select your source configuration and click the Add dSource link located on the right.

  4. Select the full backup that anchors the restore and makes the related incremental backups available to the connector.

  5. Enable point-in-time to restore and enter the requested restore timestamp in the format. The timestamp must include an unambiguous time zone.

  6. If the backup storage type is S3, select either static access keys or Use IAM Instance Profile.

  7. Click Next.

  8. In the dSource Configuration tab, provide a dSource name and select a group for your dSource. Adding a dSource to a dataset group allows you to manage user permissions for that database and its objects, including snapshots. For more information, refer to the topics under Users and Groups.

  9. In the Data Management tab, specify your staging environment, user, and snapshot parameters. Select the Resynchronize dSource checkbox if you want to resynchronize the dSource. This operation will force a non-incremental load of data from the source. This operation is similar to creating a new dSource, but prevents duplication of the storage requirements and maintains timeflow history. Click Next to proceed.

  10. In the Policies tab, apply policy details to the dSource if needed, then click Next to continue.

  11. In the Hooks tab, select a Hook Point and then click + to add a script that you want to run at that hook point. You have the flexibility to define scripts to run at multiple hook points in the process.

  12. In the Summary tab, review the configuration profile for your dSource.

  13. Click Submit. The Delphix Continuous Data Engine will initiate two jobs, namely DB_Link and DB_Sync to create the dSource. You can monitor these jobs by selecting System>Jobs or by selecting System >Events in the top menu bar. Upon successful completion of the DB_link job jobs, the database icon will change to a dSource icon on the Environments > Host > Databases screen. The dSource will also be listed under Datasets within its assigned group.
