Occasionally, DCT cannot automatically discover a SQL Server instance. This can occur if there is a problem in the Windows registry or if the instance is not running when discovery occurs. In these cases, you can manually add the SQL Server installation from the environment page.
Manually add a SQL Server installation
Use this procedure to manually add a SQL Server installation to a Windows environment in DCT.
- Log in to the DCT instance.
- On the Home page, go to the environment and click View to view its attributes.
- Select the Data tab.
- Click + Installation.
-
Enter the following details:
- Allow Provisioning: Select this option to allow linking and provisioning.
- Use as Staging: Select this option if the environment will be used as a staging environment.
- Fulltext Installed: Select this option to allow users to perform full-text searches.
- Add as a Failover Cluster Source: Select this option when adding a SQL Server failover cluster instance as a source. When this option is selected, enter the server name. This option applies only when adding a SQL Server failover cluster instance as a source. It is not available for clusters used as a target.
- Name: Not currently used.
- Port: The port used for the IPC connection to the instance.
- Installation path: The SQL Server installation path. Not currently used.
- Owner: The account that runs the SQL Server service on the source environment.
- Version: The SQL Server version required to add a source instance. If the wrong version is entered, Delphix might fail to discover the databases, and manual discovery might fail.
- Click Save.
If the values are valid, DCT creates the instance and discovers its databases.
Delete a manually added SQL Server installation
