Couchbase requires manual source configuration creation before linking dSources. Unlike some other connectors that auto-discover source definitions, Couchbase source configs must be explicitly defined to identify which clusters and buckets can be ingested.

Why manual configuration?

Source configurations in Couchbase define the specific cluster and bucket combinations that DCT will manage. This manual step ensures administrators explicitly control which data is available for ingestion and virtualization, providing better governance and security.

Procedure

  1. Open the target Couchbase environment.
  2. Go to the Data tab.
  3. Expand a Couchbase installation.
  4. Select the source database.
  5. Enter a source configuration name.
  6. Select Save.

Required fields

  • Source host – Hostname or IP address of the source Couchbase cluster

  • Couchbase port – Management port number of source cluster (default 8091)

  • Staging database identifier – Unique logical name for this source configuration. Example: couchbase-prod-src or cb-staging-01. (Not a hostname; used internally by DCT)

  • Couchbase data path – Path where Couchbase stores data on staging host (typically /opt/couchbase/var/lib/couchbase). This path must be:

    • Writable by the environment OS user

    • On a filesystem with sufficient storage for staging copies

After your configuration is created, it will be available for dSource linking.
