Once a dSource is created and snapshots are available, you can provision a MongoDB virtual database (VDB) from any available snapshot.

Note: MongoDB VDB provisioning is snapshot-based only. Point-in-time recovery is not supported.

Procedure

  1. On the left navigation pane, expand Data Management and click VDBs.

  2. Click the Actions button in the top-right corner and select Provision VDB.

  3. On the Source page, select the dSource from which you want to provision the VDB.

  4. On the Provision Point page, select the snapshot from which to provision.

  5. On the Target Environment page, select the environment, the OS user, and the MongoDB installation.

  6. On the Target Configuration page, enter the VDB details. See the field reference below.

    1. NFS Mount Location: The mount location on the target host. No spaces allowed.

    2. Virtual MongoDB Port Number: The port for the VDB instance. Must be unique on the target host.

    3. Staging Replicaset Name: Replica set name for the VDB, if applicable. Default: dlpx_rs0

    4. Mongos Port Number: Port for the mongos router on the target. For sharded VDBs only.

    5. Tags: Optional key-value tags for the VDB.

  7. On the Policies page, review the snapshot and retention policies.

  8. (Optional) On the Masking page, enable masking if required.

  9. (Optional) On the Hooks page, add hook scripts if needed.

  10. On the Summary page, review all configuration details and click Submit.

After submission, the VDBs page displays the newly provisioned VDB. Click View to confirm the status is RUNNING.
