The following section introduces you to the overall process of deploying the MySQL virtualization solution. A sequence of high-level steps is below; each step briefly describes the task and the expected result. Refer to the embedded links for more detailed information.
-
Begin by reviewing the general Delphix Continuous Data Engine architecture diagrams. This link provides a good understanding of the architectural strategy and confirm support. As a next step, identify existing or new MySQL source, staging and target environments, the underlying Operating Systems, and MySQL database versions.
-
Review the MySQL Support Matrix. Using this link confirm that your combination of MySQL software, host operating system, Delphix Continuous Data Engine version, and MySQL connector version are supported for the various environments that will integrate into your MySQL deployment. Early validation will reduce unexpected issues later.
-
Install the MySQL connector. This link explains how the MySQL connector extends Delphix Continuous Data Engine to MySQL datasets. It is recommended to stay current with the latest version of the connector.
-
Create staging and target environments. This link explains the staging environment will host a MySQL instance that Delphix Continuous Data Engine will ingest from. The target environment will host one or more MySQL instance(s) in which the virtual database copies will be created.
-
Consult the source environment and staging/target environment requirements documentation for configuration details.
-
-
Add staging and target environments in the Delphix Continuous Data Engine. This link explain how to use the Add Environment operation in Delphix Continuous Data Engine for each host, which causes Delphix Continuous Data Engine to register the specific host and review the MySQL software installation(s) on that host.
-
Link the MySQL source database. This link describes how to configure and create a dSource which allows Delphix Continuous Data Engine to capture a copy of the source data. The MySQL connector supports replication with Delphix-Initiated backups, replication with Externally-Initiated backups, Staging Push and Selective Data ingestion methods that provides a variety of options for capturing data to be virtualized by Delphix Continuous Data Engine. Therefore, we encourage you to identify the ingestion method that best suits your organization and infrastructure policies.
-
Provision virtual MySQL databases. This link describes how administrators and users can provision multiple copies of the source data as virtual databases.
