In certain scenarios, you might find it necessary to migrate a virtual database to a different target environment. This need can arise, for instance, when upgrading the host where the VDB is hosted or as part of a broader data center migration effort.

Before migrating a VDB, disable the database, then use the Migrate VDB feature to select a new target environment.

To migrate a VDB in DCT:

  1. Log in to the DCT instance.

  2. Navigate to Data > VDBs, click View on a VDB and select Actions > Migrate option.

  3. Choose the new Environment, User, and Installation Path to migrate.

  4. Click Migrate.
