The Couchbase 2026.1.0 connector in Data Control Tower (DCT) provides the control plane for managing Couchbase data discovery, SourceConfig creation, dSource ingestion, and VDB provisioning on Delphix Continuous Data Engines.

Using DCT, you can:

  • Discover Couchbase installations on registered environments

  • Create source configurations for Couchbase clusters and buckets

  • Ingest Couchbase data into Delphix-managed storage using supported ingestion methods

  • Capture snapshots and manage dSource lifecycle operations

  • Provision and manage virtual Couchbase databases (VDBs) for downstream use cases

Key components

  • Continuous Data Engine – Executes Couchbase discovery, ingestion, snapshot, and virtualization operations. For more information, read Connect a Continuous Data Engine in DCT.
  • Couchbase connector plugin – A JSON-based connector that enables engine-side discovery of Couchbase installations. For more information, read Upload the Connector.json in DCT.
  • Infrastructure connections (environments) – Registered Couchbase source, staging, and target hosts that DCT communicates with over SSH.
  • Source configurations – Logical definitions that identify which Couchbase clusters and buckets can be ingested as dSources. For more information, read Create a source configuration for Connectors in DCT.
  • dSources – Managed representations of Couchbase data sources used for snapshotting, bookmarking, and provisioning.
  • Virtual Databases (VDBs) – Writable Couchbase databases provisioned from dSource or VDB snapshots.

Prerequisites

Before performing Couchbase operations in DCT:

  • Connected Continuous Data Engine – Running and communicating with DCT

  • Couchbase connector uploaded – Latest connector JSON file installed on engine

  • Couchbase binaries installed on:

    • Source environment

    • Staging environment

    • Target environment(s)

  • Consistent Couchbase version – All environments must have identical Couchbase version

  • SSH access to all environments – Port 22 or configured SSH port

  • Toolkit directory configured and writable – At least 2GB free space on each host

  • expect utility installed – Required on staging and target hosts for secure credential handling. Verify with: which expect

  • Python 3.11 and vSDK 5.0.1 – Required for the 2026.1.0 connector runtime on the supported host environments.

  • OS user configuration – Environment user must:

    • Be in the couchbase OS group

    • Have passwordless sudo privileges for: mount, umount, mkdir, rmdir

    • Have read/write access to Couchbase data paths

  • Required network connectivity:

    • SSH (TCP 22) – For host communication

    • Couchbase management (TCP 8091) – For cluster communication

    • Couchbase data (TCP 11210) – For XDCR replication (binary protocol)

    • NFS (TCP 2049, 111, 1110, 54043-54045) – For storage mounts

Limitations

  • Connector downgrades are not supported

  • Source configurations linked to active dSources cannot be deleted

  • Couchbase only supports:

    • XDCR ingestion (continuous replication)

    • Backup-based ingestion (point-in-time snapshots)

  • Point-in-time recovery is not supported – Data recovery based on snapshots only

  • Multi-node VDB limitations:

    • Child VDB cannot be provisioned from multi-node VDB

    • Multi-node VDB cannot be cloned

  • One environment can be associated with only one dSource/VDB at a time
