Use the VDB detail page in DCT to view and manage a SQL Server AG VDB. The VDB listing page does not include an AG-specific column or type value.

To identify an AG VDB, open the VDB detail page and check for AG-specific fields or the Replicas tab.

View AG VDB details

  1. Log in to DCT.
  2. Navigate to Data > Data Management > VDB and click Provision VDB. For more information, refer to Provisioning a SQL Server VDB.
  3. On the Overview tab, review the AG-specific fields.
    FieldDescription
Backup BasedShows Yes or No. This value identifies whether the VDB was provisioned by using backup-based provisioning.
Backup LocationShows the shared backup location when Backup Based is Yes. When Backup Based is cleared, Backup Location is hidden and unset in the saved configuration. For more information, see the Provision a SQL Server AG virtual database topic.
  4. To update AG configuration values, open the Edit Config dialog.
  5. Review the Change Data Capture setting.
  6. Review general VDB information as needed.

View AG replicas

  1. Open the Replicas tab.
  2. Review the replica details.
    ColumnDescription
Replica NameName of the AG replica.
RoleReplica role, such as Primary or Secondary. If the role cannot be resolved, DCT shows a placeholder.
    HostResolved environment name.
    IPResolved environment address.
InstanceSQL Server instance resolved from the replica repository.
Sync StateEngine-reported synchronization status shown as-is. DCT does not define or translate a fixed list of sync states. If DCT cannot resolve a value, the table shows a placeholder instead of an empty cell.

Manage an AG VDB

The AG VDB actions menu includes the following actions:

  • Enable
  • Disable
  • Rename
  • Delete
  • Lock
  • Unlock
Refresh is available as a separate primary action.

View AG infrastructure details

AG environment details appear on existing Infrastructure detail tabs. There is no separate AG tab.

  1. Open the Infrastructure detail page for the AG environment. For more information, see the Provision a SQL Server AG virtual database topic.
  2. On the Data tab, review the AG cluster listener details. DCT displays a listener in this format: name:port (address). If the listener has no address, DCT displays name:port.
  3. On the Attributes tab, review the per-node availability icons. The icons can show these states:
    • Available
    • Unavailable
    • Unknown
  4. Review the Infrastructure Type.
    • A WSFC environment is identified as a cluster or Availability Group type based on its configured environment type.
    • AG member replicas are not listed on the Infrastructure detail page. To review AG replica information, go to the VDB detail >Replicas tab.

Limitations

  • Undo refresh is not available for AG VDBs.
  • Migrate is not available for AG VDBs.
  • Upgrade is not available for AG VDBs.
  • Stop and Start are not available for AG VDBs.
  • Create Snapshot is not available for AG VDBs.

  • Point-in-time provision and point-in-time refresh are not supported for non-backup-based AG VDBs.
