The Min Max Number framework normalizes numeric values by ensuring that all masked values fall within a specified numeric range. The DCT Compliance node provides a "MinMax Date" to normalize dates within a range. Values that are extremely high or low in certain categories allow viewers to infer someone’s identity, even if their name has been masked. For example, some age ranges suggest higher insurance risk. You can use a MinMax Date algorithm to move all values of this kind into the midrange. This algorithm allows you to make sure that all the values in the database are within a specified range. The algorithm framework applies to date data types.
The Replacement Value for Nonconforming Data value is used when the underlying data to be masked is of type String and conversion to a date is required.
Configuration options
When creating an algorithm using the Min Max Number framework, configure the following options in the Configuration step.
| Option | Description |
|---|---|
| Minimum Number | The lowest value allowed in the masked data. |
| Maximum Number | The highest value allowed in the masked data. |
| Replacement Value for Non-Conforming Data | Value used when the original data cannot be converted to a numeric value. This typically applies when masking string columns that contain non-numeric values. |
Create an algorithm using this framework
To create an algorithm using this framework, follow the steps in Create an algorithm and select Min max Number during the Configuration step.
