After an uncontrolled failover, the target and staging hosts will still have NFS mounts from the former source engine. These stale mounts must be cleared before dSources and VDBs can be re-enabled through DCT.
You can identify stale mounts by running: mount | grep <source-engine-ip>.
These mounts will be mounted in the user-provided toolkit directory (for example /work) and follow the naming pattern: /work/<Engine-UUID>-[staging/vdb]/[datafile/archive/temp]. For example /work/4201763f-2f8d-1c8f-381a-effb180b0328-staging-2/datafile. All mounts reference the source engine's UUID.
Attempting to 'Enable' or 'Start' ASE dSources or VDBs through DCT while NFS mounts are in this stale state will cause jobs to hang, time out, or fail.
Use one of the following methods to clear the stale mounts:
Option 1: Manually unmount
-
Shut down the SAP ASE instances that host the dSource's staging database and VDBs.
-
List all dSource and VDB mounts with mount | grep <source-engine-ip>.
-
Remove all the mounts with umount -lf <Delphix-mount> for example: umount -lf /work/4201763f-2f8d-1c8f-381a-effb180b0328-staging-1/archive, this might require sudo privileges.
Use the appropriate syntax for umount for your operating system. The above example is for Linux. -
Restart the SAP ASE instances.
Option 2: Reboot the target/staging host
Rebooting the host is the cleanest way to clear stale mounts. However, only use this option if the host does not run other databases that are unrelated to the failover.
Re-enable objects through DCT
After clearing stale mounts using either method:
-
In DCT, navigate to Home > Infrastructure Connections. Enable the source environment first, then the target environment.
-
Navigate to Data > Data Management > dSources and Data > Data Management > VDBs. Enable dSources and VDBs on the target engine.
-
Verify that mounts are now served by the target engine by running the command: mount | grep <target-engine-ip> .
These mounts will still reference the source engine's UUID (instead of the target engine’s UUID), but validated/manual syncs on dSources and refresh/rewind operations on VDBs will complete successfully.
