Overview
An Infrastructure Connection in DCT is the equivalent of an environment in Continuous Data. It represents a host or cluster registered with a Continuous Data engine — the source, staging, or target systems where databases reside. You can find all Infrastructure Connections under the Home tab in DCT’s top navigation bar.
Use this task to add a source, staging, or target environment in DCT before linking a dSource or provisioning a VDB.
Before ingesting data (linking a dSource) or provisioning a VDB, at least one Infrastructure Connection must exist on the associated Continuous Data engine.
Note, DCT creates engine-specific identifiers for each host. If the same physical host is used by multiple engines (e.g., Engine A for Oracle, Engine B for SAP ASE), DCT will show separate Infrastructure Connection entries for each engine-host-instance combination. This differs from the single-environment model in the Continuous Data engine UI.
Before you start, identify whether the host will be used as a source, staging, or target environment, confirm that it meets the connector-specific host requirements for the data platform, and have the environment user credentials ready. For Windows hosts, install the Delphix Connector before you register the environment.
Steps to create a connection
-
From the Home tab, click Infrastructure Connections on the left.
-
Click + Infrastructure Connections to launch the wizard.
-
Connection Name: Provide a name and select the Associated Engine from the dropdown.
-
Host & Server: Select the Host OS (Linux/Windows), Server Type, and Host Type (standalone or cluster).
-
Settings: Provide the Host/IP Address, SSH Port (Linux) or Delphix Connector Port (Windows), and configure optional advanced settings such as Discover SAP ASE, custom JDK path, NFS addresses, or DSP configuration.
-
Login Settings: Select the login type shown in the wizard and provide the required credentials. If you use Password Vault, DCT retrieves the password for the configured account from the selected vault instead of storing it directly.
-
-
Summary: Review all selections and submit.
DCT will trigger environment creation and discovery jobs on the engine. Once complete, the new connection and its discovered database instances appear in the Infrastructure Connections list.
For Windows targets, a Delphix Connector download link is available in the wizard. The connector must be installed on the Windows host before it can be registered.
Connector-specific configuration
The exact OS prerequisites, network ports, database user permissions, discovery behavior, and engine-level environment details vary by data platform. After creating the Infrastructure Connection, refer to the Ecosystem Hub — Continuous Data Connectors documentation for platform-specific setup.
