Jobs execute synthetic data generation by running a dataset against one or more target databases. Each job uses a specific dataset, maps reference connectors to target connectors, and can optionally override data volume settings.

Use this task to create a new job in Synthetic Data.

Prerequisites

  • A dataset must be configured within the application.

  • At least one reference connector and one target connector must be available for mapping.

Steps

  1. From the top navigation bar, click Synthetic, then click Jobs in the left navigation pane.

  2. In the upper‑right corner of the Jobs page, click + Create Job. The Create Job wizard opens.

  3. On the Job Name page, provide the following details:

    1. Job Name: Enter a unique name for the job.

    2. Description (optional): Enter a free-text description to help identify the job.

    3. Tags (optional): Add one or more key-value tags to the job.

      1. Enter a value in the Enter Tag Key field.

      2. Enter the corresponding value in the Enter Tag Value field.

      3. Click + Tag to add the tag.

Repeat these steps to add additional tags.

    4. Under Generation Options, configure the following options:

      1. Replace Existing Data: When selected, the job deletes existing data in the target connectors before writing synthetic data. When it is not selected, the job appends new data to the existing data.

      2. Job Specific Generation Seed: When selected, the job generates different synthetic values based on a non-default seed created for the job.

      3. Randomize value generation: When selected, resets the dataset seed for this job so that it produces a different set of synthetic values.

    5. Click Next.

  4. On the Select Dataset page, choose the synthetic dataset to use for this job:

    1. Use the Search datasets... field to search by name, or use the Application dropdown to filter datasets by application.

    2. Click the dataset card to select it.

  5. On the Connector Mapping page, map each reference connector to a target connector:

    1. Review the mappings in the Reference Connector and Target Connector columns. Synthetic Data can populate the target mappings automatically.

    2. For an unmapped row, click Select target connector and choose the appropriate target connector.

    3. Confirm that all reference connectors are mapped to targets. The page displays a summary of how many reference connectors have been mapped.

  6. On the Data Volume page, configure record counts for each table (optional overrides):

    1. The Estimated Total Records banner displays the aggregate record count across all tables.

    2. Review the Table, Connector, Schema, Record Count, Estimated Rows, and Subtotal columns.

    3. Expand relationship rows to review the tables included in the volume tree.

    4. For each table, update the Record Count field as needed. The Estimated Rows, Subtotal, and Estimated Total Records values update automatically.

    5. The volume tree shows only primary relationships. Record counts are calculated using the primary relationship multiplier. To change the primary relationship, update it in the dataset's Relationships section.

  7. On the Review & Create page, review the job configuration, including Job Information, Dataset, Connector Mappings, and Data Volume details.

    1. To make changes, click Back.

    2. To create the job, click Submit.

The job is created and appears on the Jobs page. You can run the job to generate synthetic data into the mapped target databases.
