Overview
Use this procedure to inspect a telemetry export locally before sending telemetry data to Delphix. You can use it with online or offline registration.
How it works
DCT generates an encrypted telemetry export in both online and offline registration modes. The export is intended for upload to the Telemetry service.
To inspect an export locally, download it encrypted with your own public key and decrypt it with the matching private key. Using your own public key is required for local validation.
Validate export contents
To validate the contents of a telemetry export:
-
Generate a 4096-bit RSA key pair.
-
Example commands for generating a compatible key pair on Linux or macOS:
openssl genrsa -out telemetry_private_key.pem 4096 openssl rsa -in telemetry_private_key.pem -pubout -out telemetry_public_key.pemPaste the public key generated by the second command directly into DCT. Do not remove the key header, footer, or line breaks.
-
-
In DCT, go to the registration workflow for telemetry export download.
-
In the Public Key field, paste your RSA public key.
-
Download the export from DCT.
-
DCT encrypts this export with the public key that you provided.
-
-
Save the corresponding private key in a secure location.
-
Download the Telemetry Decrypt and Extract Script ZIP file from downloads.delphix.com, under DCT Release > Telemetry Decrypt and Extract Script.
-
Read the
README.mdincluded in the ZIP file for instructions to run the decryption script with the required arguments. The script does not need to be modified.
-
-
Open the extracted files and review the export contents.
Upload a telemetry export
You cannot upload an export encrypted with your custom public key to Delphix Telemetry. If you use online registration, leave it enabled; no registration setting needs to be changed. If you use offline registration, download the export with the default registered public key, then upload that export.
