Before starting an uncontrolled failover, keep a note of the source and target engine's IP address and UUID.

Uncontrolled failover procedure

  1. On the source engine, create a replication specification for the dSources and VDBs by clicking Replicatenow, to replicate these dSources/VDBs to the target engine.

  2. In an uncontrolled scenario, the source engine is lost (for example, power failure or data center outage).

  3. On the target engine, click on Failover.

    1. At this point, the target engine will become active and the replicated environments, dSources, and VDBs will appear in the default namespace of the target engine and become visible in DCT.

For platform-specific procedures for handling an uncontrolled failover, see Failover recovery for data platforms.
