dSources are typically linked to production or staging systems, which means hooks may execute with elevated privileges under the Delphix environment user account. To mitigate security concerns, dSource hooks can be enabled only when necessary.

Impacted dSources types

Only dSource types where hooks execute on the production host are impacted by this setting. This includes:

  • Oracle dSources using Delphix-initiated backups (direct ingestion), SAP ASE, and other plugin data connector (PostgreSQL, IBM DB2, etc) dSources that use direct ingestion mechanisms.

Refer to the connector's Ecosystem documentation to understand which ingestion model applies and whether dSource hooks are affected by this setting.

Default behavior

  • dSource hooks are disabled for fresh installations.

  • dSource hooks will be enabled by default while upgrading any engine created from 2025.6.0.0 or earlier releases.

Behavior when dSource hooks are disabled

Configuring hooks during dSource link or update operations will return an error:

"Cannot configure dSource hooks because the system flag to enable the dSource hooks is currently disabled."

A fault will be raised during sync operations for any dSource that has hooks configured while the setting is disabled:

"Title: DSource hooks system flag is disabled

Details: Cannot execute dSource hooks because the system flag to enable the dSource hooks is currently disabled. The following dSource are affected: <dSources>

User Action: DSource hooks flag can be enabled by a sysadmin user. Enable the flag and then try the operation again."
