During provisioning or linking

Hook operations can be configured during the dSource or VDB creation process:

  • VDB provisioning: In the VDB provisioning wizard (Data > Data Management > VDBs > Provision VDB), the Hooks step appears after Target Configuration, Policies, and Masking. Use the + Hook button to define scripts that will execute at various stages of VDB operations.

  • dSource linking: In the dSource creation wizard (Data > Data Management > dSources > + dSource), the Hooks step appears after Policies. Use the + Hook button to define scripts for dSource sync operations.

In both wizards, you can apply existing Hook Templates or create new hook scripts inline.

On existing datasets

To add or edit hooks on an existing VDB or dSource:

  1. In DCT, navigate to Data > Data Management > VDBs (or dSources) and select the dataset.

  2. Go to the Hooks tab on the dataset's details page.

  3. Use the + icon to add a new hook operation or select an existing hook and click the Pencil icon to edit.

  4. Select the hook point (e.g., Pre-refresh, Post-start), choose the script type, and provide the script contents. You can also import from a Hook Template.

  5. Save changes by clicking the checkmark icon.
