This article outlines the procedure for deploying the Delphix Engine in Hyper-V.

Create a Delphix engine VM

  1. Download the image from https://download.delphix.com and copy it to a VM directory.

  2. Start the Hyper-V Manager and specify Name and Location, then select Next.

  3. Select Generation 2, configure memory and then select Next.
Memory: 64 GB (minimum), 128 GB (recommended)

  4. On the Configure Networking page, select the virtual switch for the Delphix Engine's initial network connection, then select Next. For adapter and data I/O recommendations, see Hyper-V network requirements.

  5. Attach the downloaded image as a boot disk on the SCSI controller. Create a unique boot disk for each image. Please note that boot disks cannot be shared.

    1. Use an existing virtual hard disk.

    2. Browse to the location of VM.

    3. Select the Image.

  6. Select Finish, the VM will appear in the inventory.

Customize the VM by selecting settings

  1. Make sure Secure Boot is disabled by unchecking the Enable Secure Boot box under Security.

  2. Adjust the number of CPUs (min 8).

  3. Add a minimum of three equal-sized Hard Drives on the SCSI controller for database storage, in addition to the system boot disk. Use VHDX formatted disks. Fixed Size disk type is recommended. Differencing Disk Types are not supported.

  4. Connect to the console and start the VM.

  5. Once the installation has been completed, power on the Delphix Engine and proceed with the initial system configuration as described in  Setting up network access to the Delphix engine.
