May 2025

Continuous Data 2025.3.0.0 introduces significant updates in system observability, encryption support, and cloud-native capabilities. This release enhances monitoring with Fluentd log forwarding, strengthens security with TDE support for Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Vault, and adds key features for Oracle and CockroachDB environments. Additionally, it provides vital bug fixes and API changes to improve operational efficiency and platform stability.

New features

Forward OS syslog and audit logs via Fluentd

Delphix Engines can now forward OS syslog and audit logs through the existing Fluentd integration, expanding observability beyond events and metrics. You can export this data to Splunk (supported out of the box) or to other tools like the ELK Stack and Datadog using custom Fluentd plugins. This enhancement uses the same unified Fluentd configuration UI and enables centralized monitoring of system activity for better visibility and compliance.

TDE Support for OCI Vault

We now support Oracle Transparent Data Encryption (TDE) with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) Vault. This enables secure key management for Oracle databases protected with TDE and managed within OCI-native services, aligning with enterprise cloud security requirements.

TDE Support for Oracle Isolated Keystores

We are adding support for Oracle's Isolated Keystores, which allow each PDB (Pluggable Database) to have its own TDE keystore. This enhances security and compliance by enabling finer-grained encryption key management within Oracle Multitenant environments.

V2P for non-multitenant Oracle databases on file system

Continuous Data now supports Virtual to Physical (V2P) workflows for non-multitenant Oracle databases running on filesystem storage. The export uses RMAN (backup as copy) as the file transfer mechanism. This expands the flexibility of Delphix environments by enabling you to repave, migrate, or restore virtual data into production-like physical infrastructure. You can also export a snapshot or a specific timeflow point of a non-multitenant Oracle database to a physical file system.

Support of RMAN RATE for Oracle SnapSync

Delphix Engine version 2025.3.0.0 introduces a new parameter to implement RMAN RATE parameter when taking a snapshot of an Oracle dSource via the CLI. If this parameter is set, an upper limit will be set for the megabytes per second read rate while taking a snapshot of an Oracle dSource, so that RMAN does not consume excessive disk bandwidth and degrade online performance. If this parameter is not specified, no limit is enforced.

The RMAN RATE parameter is used to limit the database read rate during a backup. This can be useful in situations where Oracle needs to read more blocks than it writes to the backup, typically when performing an incremental backup where Block Change Tracking (BCT) is not used or is ineffective..

VDB to VDB snapshot support for Cockroach Connector

We have added the support for the taking of VDB Snapshots. This feature enables administrators and self-service users to save a CockroachDB VDB’s data state as a snapshot on its Timeline. In addition, this feature allows the creation and sharing of self-service bookmarks or the provisioning of new VDBs from the saved point in time (PIT).

YBA deployment support

Starting with YugabyteDB plugin v2025.1.0, users can provision a staging database directly through Yugabyte Anywhere (YBA). Staging database can be restored from backups stored in Azure Blob Storage using the YBA restore workflow, streamlining cloud-native recovery process. We have added full support for YB-Controller–generated backups on Azure Blob Storage when creating or resyncing staging databases.

EBS certification

Certification has been added for Oracle EBS 12.2.14 with AD/TXK code-level 16+ Oracle database 19.26.0.0 or later on the RHEL v8.10 with Delphix Continuous Data Engine 2025.2.0.0.0. For more information, refer to the Oracle EBS support matrix page.

HANA certification

Certification has been added for SAP HANA 2.0 SPS 07 on the RHEL v9.4.

DLPX-93803	Fixed an issue where the database was unable to allocate enough hugepages. Delphix now sets USE_LARGE_PAGES=AUTO for auxCDB if dSource uses hugepages ONLY or AUTO_CONFIG on Oracle 19 or earlier. On older versions, it sets USE_LARGE_PAGES=FALSE as hugepages aren't needed during recovery.

DLPX-93881	Fixed an issue where deletion of encryption enabled environment was not possible if hostname resolution fails.
DLPX-93965	Improved error messaging when an Oracle instance created for a non-multitenant Oracle staging push dSource is populated with data from a multitenant database.
DLPX-94015	Fixed an issue causing Oracle vPDB provisioning to fail with ORA-65015 when setting _system_trig_enabled if the dSource PDB or vPDB name starts with a non-letter or contains any non-upper case alphabetic characters.

Known issues

Provide `rw` permissions to any user (delphix_os or non-oracle user) running VDB/vPDB operations on `oranfstab` file. Alternatively, a less preferable workaround is to switch engine NFS config to force NFSv3 in which case Oracle does not need these entries in the `oranfstab` file but this will impact every VDB/vPDB on that engine.

Deprecated and EOL features

Oracle LiveSource

Oracle LiveSource is no longer supported and fully removed in 2025.3. We had previously announced the deprecation of Oracle LiveSource in July 2024. Continuous Data 2025.2 was the last release with support for Oracle LiveSource.
