Configure password policies

Create custom password policies

1. Log in to Continuous Data as an admin and switch to the passwordPolicy context:

   delphix> passwordPolicy

2. Run the create command:

   delphix passwordPolicy> create

3. Set your required parameters:

   delphix passwordPolicy create *> set name=MyCustomPasswordPolicy \
       minLength=5 \
       reuseDisallowLimit=1 \
       uppercaseLetter=true \
       lowercaseLetter=false \
       digit=true \
       symbol=true \
       disallowUsernameAsPassword=true

4. Commit the operation:

   delphix passwordPolicy create *> commit

View available password policies

1. Log in to Continuous Data as an admin and switch to the passwordPolicy context:

   delphix> passwordPolicy

2. Run the list command:

   delphix passwordPolicy> list
   REFERENCE         NAME  MINLENGTH  REUSEDISALLOWLIMIT  UPPERCASELETTER  LOWERCASELETTER  DIGIT  SYMBOL  DISALLOWUSERNAMEASPASSWORD
   
   PASSWORDPOLICY-0  NONE  1          0                   false            false            false  false   false
   
   delphix> passwordPolicy

View current password policy requirements

1. Log in to Continuous Data as an admin and switch to the passwordPolicy context:

   delphix> passwordPolicy

2. Run the currentRequirements command:

   delphix passwordPolicy> currentRequirements

3. Commit the operation. The following is an example, not a suggestion:

   delphix passwordPolicy currentRequirements *> commit
   Password must:
   - Contain at least 8 characters.
   - Differ from the last password.
   - Not contain the user name or reverse user name.
   - Contain at least one uppercase letter.
   - Contain at least one numeric digit.
   - Contain at least one symbol.

Change your current password policy to another available password policy

1. Log in to Continuous Data as an admin and switch to the passwordPolicy context:

   delphix> passwordPolicy

2. Run the command changeCurrentPasswordPolicy:

   delphix passwordPolicy> changeCurrentPasswordPolicy
   delphix passwordPolicy changeCurrentPasswordPolicy *>

3. Set your required parameters:

   delphix passwordPolicy changeCurrentPasswordPolicy *> set userType=DOMAIN
   delphix passwordPolicy changeCurrentPasswordPolicy *> set currentPasswordPolicy=MyCustomPasswordPolicy

4. Commit the operation:

   delphix passwordPolicy changeCurrentPasswordPolicy *> commit

Update custom password policies

1. Log in to Continuous Data as an admin and switch to the passwordPolicy context:

   delphix> passwordPolicy

2. Select a custom password policy to update:

   delphix passwordPolicy> select MyCustomPasswordPolicy

3. Run the update command:

   delphix passwordPolicy 'MyCustomPasswordPolicy'> update

4. Set your required parameters:

   delphix passwordPolicy 'MyCustomPasswordPolicy' update *> set minLength=8

5. Commit the operation:

   delphix passwordPolicy 'MyCustomPasswordPolicy' update *> commit

Update passwords

1. Log in to Continuous Data as an admin and switch to the user context:

   delphix> user

2. Run the current command to select the user currently logged in:

   delphix user> current

3. Run the updateCredential command:

   delphix user 'xyz'> updateCredential

4. Set your required credentials:

   delphix user 'xyz' updateCredential *> set oldCredential.password=XXXXXXXX
   delphix user 'xyz' updateCredential *> set newCredential.password=XXXXXXXX

5. Commit the operation:

   delphix user 'xyz' updateCredential *> commit

Delete custom password policies

1. Log in to Continuous Data as an admin and switch to the passwordPolicy context:

   delphix> passwordPolicy

2. Select a custom password policy to delete:

   delphix passwordPolicy> select MyCustomPasswordPolicy
   delphix passwordPolicy 'MyCustomPasswordPolicy'>

3. Run the delete command:

   delphix passwordPolicy 'MyCustomPasswordPolicy'> delete

4. Commit the operation:

   delphix passwordPolicy 'MyCustomPasswordPolicy' delete *> commit
